of the 310 practices on observable booking systems showed at least one bookable urgent slot in the next 72 hours (observed 2026-06-12)
Sydney Dental Availability Index · refreshed nightly
Can Sydney book a dentist this week?
Every night our checker reads the publicly visible booking systems of Sydney dental practices and records what a patient could actually book. This is the city-wide picture — aggregates only, no practices named.
visible 72-hour appointment slots across 47 suburbs — the bookable capacity hiding in plain sight
of 969 audited practice websites score below "adequate" on their after-hours path — capacity exists, but the 11pm patient can't find it (June 2026 audit)
The paradox the index keeps showing
Most checked practices have bookable urgent capacity this week — yet 87% of audited websites give the after-hours patient no path to it, and 38% score below adequate on online booking at all. Sydney doesn't have a capacity problem; it has a visibility problem. The practices that fix the path (it's a four-line job) collect the patients the others turn away.

Methodology, honestly
The index reads publicly visible booking systems nightly — the same screens a patient sees. "Visible availability" is a booking signal, not chair utilisation: practices may hold capacity off-line, and a practice without an observable booking system isn't counted as unavailable, just unobservable. Suburb aggregates only; individual practices are never named. Website scores come from our June 2026 audit of 969 Sydney dental practice websites. Not a ranking, and not a statement about clinical care.
